Lorenzo Scarpone at A16 Napa
Join us as we welcome our dear friend Lorenzo Scarpone to A16 Napa, highlighting wines from his home in Abruzzo to within the walls of Pompeii with Bosco Dei Medici ~ a fascinating evening of stories, family, wine and the flavors of summer!
Born and raised on a small farm and vineyard in Abruzzo, Lorenzo Scarpone’s lifelong passion for food and wine began early. After training as a sommelier and co-founding a successful seafood restaurant with his brother, Lorenzo traveled the world as a wine steward before settling in San Francisco.
In 1989, he founded Villa Italia Wines, an import company dedicated to promoting small, artisan Italian wineries. Today, Villa Italia represents over 30 producers from across Italy. A pioneer in elevating Italian wine internationally, Lorenzo was inducted into the Wines of Italy Hall of
Fame in 2015.
Lorenzo also founded the first U.S. chapter of Italy’s @slowfoodusa movement and has led efforts supporting earthquake relief in Abruzzo, health initiatives in San Francisco, and mentoring young Italians in the hospitality industry.
